Gear - Most of the time, "gear" will just be a new set of strings or new cables so you get a nice, crisp recording. With enough help, though, it goes towards new VST instruments, new instruments, artists etc!
Running costs - A lot of stuff behind the scenes has running costs. Licensing to put covers on streaming services, paying artists what they are worth, and running this website and its add-on subscriptions are some of the main examples.
Living costs - Of course, I would absolutely love to do this as a living, and having a regular income absolutely makes that dream a reality.
